Aliss Agatha Upham, Gloucester Street West, will be a visitor to Timaru for the Hunt Club festivities. Airs Gilbert Grigg, Hororata, will visit Timaru for the South Canterbury Hunt Club festivities. Mrs Norman Davidson, Christchurch, is the guest of Airs J. E. Broadfoot, Auckland.

Air and Mrs 11. Rennie. Christchurch, are spending a holiday at Helensville. Auckland. Miss Eileen AI. Johnston will lead the Auckland University College debating team in the contest for the Joynt Scroll at Dunedin this week. Aliss jean Newton, “ The Willows,” Ashburton, who has been the guest of Airs George Francis, Innes Road, has returned home. Air and Airs AI. Gibb, Darfield, who have been the guests of Airs J. Gibb, Puaha, Little River. have returned home. Mrs F. W. J. Alay, formerly of Cashmere Hills, will leave Christchurch in about three weeks’ time to reside in Wellington. Mrs A. R. Bloxam and Aliss B. Bloxam, Weston Road, who have been spending a holiday with friends in Timaru, have returned to Christchurch. Airs George Alacdonald, Lowry Hills, president of the Cheviot sub-branch of the Plunket Society, will attend the annual conference in Wellington next week. Miss Ruth Wynn-Williams, Cashmere Hills, left to-day to stay with Lady Stewart, Banks Peninsula. She will leave later for Timaru to attend the South Canterbury Hunt Club’s races.

Airs Alarmaduke Bethell, Pahau Pastures, Culverden, has returned home after a visit to Wellington. Airs C. A. Henrikson, Totara Valley, Pleasant Point, who has been staying with Airs K. Exton, Upper Rieearton. left this morning for Hanmer Springs. Air and Airs Godfrey Rutherford, Lochiel, have been visiting Rotorua since their return from a trip to Australia. They arrived in Christchurch this morning. Airs E. J. Cordner, Rossall Street, returned north yesterday after spending the week-end with her mother, Airs C. E. Thomas, Hampton House, Le Cren’s Terrace, Timaru. Air and Airs Bruce Alurray, Godley Peaks, M’Kenzie Country, and their guest, Aliss Aleta Nixon, Fendalton, will be visitors to Timaru for the Hunt Club festivities. Airs Rupert Vanstone, vice-president of the Little River Women’s Institute, left last evening for Wellington as a delegate to the Dominion Conference of Women’s Institutes. She was accompanied by Aliss Alaud Alould, also of Little River. Airs R. AI. Burdon, Woodbury, will arrive in Christchurch to-morrow morning from Wellington, and will spend a few days with Airs R. C. Fowler, Alontreal Street. Since returning from a trip to Australia, Airs Burdon has been visiting relatives in Hawke’s Bay. Two noted singers, Mr and Airs T. A. Harvey, of Dunedin, will arrive in Christchurch this week to take up permanent residence here. Air Harvey, who studied under the late Hamilton Hodges and Senor Giovanni Stella (Italy), is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading tenors. He has continued his singing away from Dunedin for some years, his last appearance there having been with the Gonzalez Imperial Grand Opera Company, he having been specially selected to perform with that company during its Dunedin season. Airs Harvey, who acts as accompanist for her husband, has a pleasing mezzocontralto voice of splendid range and power.
