Mrs Machin Entertains for Harmonic Society.

Mrs William Machin, Dean’s Avenue, was hostess yesterday at a musical afternoon in aid of the funds of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Christchurch Harmonic Society. Several wellknown artists contributed to the programme, which was enthusiastically received by the guests. Miss Bessie Pollard played piano solos, and instrumental trios with Miss Marjorie Chapman and Miss Dora Deal. Miss Deal also gave some violin solos, and Miss Chapman ’cello solos. Songs were sung by Miss R. Rankin and Misses Lilian Hanham and Dorothy Roberts and recitations were given by Mrs Pearce and Miss Edith Hart. Mrs Downes played pianoforte solos.
