ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS.

The seventh meeting - of the 1934 session of the Christchurch Accountant Students’ Society in the Chamber of Commerce Hall was well attended. Mr Turner-Smith was in the chair. The meeting took the form of a mock meeting of shareholders arranged by Mr J. M. Preston. The business before the meeting was the consideration of a proposal by the directors of the Optimo Iron Trust, TAd., to purchase as a going concern the business of Cogg and Cogg, Ctd. Recent balance-sheets and accounts, together with the directors’ report, were circulated prior to the meeting so that members arrived prepared to speak critically for or against the proposition, and as a result manv points of interest were discussed. At the close of the meeting Mr Preston gave his valuation in the form of a joint report prepared by the auditors of both of the companies concerned. Mr Preston was accorded a heaty vote of thanks.
