Crops Ravaged and Heavy Losses of Cattle. DROUGHT IN UNITED STATES. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 24, 9.50 a.m.) CHICAGO. July 23. The heat-wave in the central and south-western States continued to-day, with the dead numbering 272 for the past five days. The crops are ravaged and failing water supplies are responsible for the loss of thousands of head of cattle. The crop loss is estimated to run into millions of dollars.
