More Aeroplanes.

Plans to Strengthen N.Z.’s Defences. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. July 21. PLAN formulated by the Defence authorities for the development of aviation in New Zealand in keeping with modem practice is being put into operation gradually. The announcement in the Gov-ernor-General's speech at the opening of Parliament, and statements made in recent months by the Prime Minister (the Right Hon G. W. Forbes) and the Minister of Defence (the Hon J. G. C-obbe), of the intention of the Government to ask Parliament to vote a fairly substantial increase in the Defence Estimates for the purchase of a number of additional aeroplanes for Dominion service, are now confirmed by communications made to aero clubs. Mr Cobbe has pointed out to the clubs that financial provision is being made by the Defence Department to enable a limited number of Moth machines to be purchased for loan to the different aero clubs. When the Defence Estimates have been passed by Parliament, orders for these aeroplanes are to be placed without delay, and w’hen the distribution has been finally decided upon the clubs to participate will be advised.
