PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr and Mrs L. H. Mirams, Dunedin, arrived in Christchurch last evening by Mr and Mrs A. J. Maclaine, Islington, have returned home from a holiday spent at Dunedin and Invercargill. Mr and Mrs W. E. Ilazlett, Invercargill, are visiting Mrs Ilazlett’s parents, Mr and Mrs E. F. Nicoll, Fendalton. Miss Julie Deegan, has left Invercargill to spend a few weeks’ holiday in Dunedin, Ashburton and Christchurch. Mrs A. Muir, Holly Road, Christchurch is the guest of Mrs E. J. le Cren, Evans Street, Timaru. Mrs Herbert Stevens, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs F. Newton, Maltby Avenue, Timaru. Mr and Mrs B. Frostick, Christchurch, are guests at the Empire, Timaru. Mrs B. C. Rutherford, who has been Christchurch, returned to Ilororata yesterday. Mrs W. Duke, North Road, is spending a holiday with Mrs C. Irvine, “ Wyndale,” Russell’s Flat. Mrs A. E. Shaw, New Brighton, who has been staying with friends at Greymouth, has now returned home.
Miss Barbara Hanna, Glenholme Flats, Colombo Street, left on Saturday night for Wellington en route for Auckland, where she will in future reside. Miss Honor Ellis, Redcliffs, has left Christchurch en route for Canada, where she intends to spend two years. She will sail from Auckland by the Niagara to-morrow. Mrs C. 11. Harrison, Hokitika, who is visiting Mrs J. Harrison, Francis Avenue, will go to Wellington this week to attend the conference of Women’s Institutes.
Players are reminded to bring their own cards and scorers for the bridge party in aid of the Karitane Hospital to be held at Ballantynes at 7.45 tomorrow night.
Further delegates to the General Conference of the Plunket Society, to be held in Wellington on August 1,2, and 3 are Mrs Vernon Mathews, Papanui, and Mrs 11. S. S. Kyle, Riccarton.
Miss Celia Reese. Cashmere Hills, who is the guest of Mrs Miles Acton-Adams, Clarence Reserve, Kaikoura, is expected to return to Christchurch on Wednesday.
Mr and Mrs A. S. Elworthy, HolmeStation, South Canterbury, who were the guests of their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, Government House, Wellington, returned home on Saturday.
Nurse Maude gratefully acknowledges a gift of women’s new overcoats from Glasson’s, Ltd., donations from M.H. and “A Friend ”; gift of clothing from the “Well Wishers,” Tai Tapu; sox from “ Grannie,” Hororata; knitted goods from an Addington friend and V.L.H., clothes from the Methven Rangers. Mesdames F. Curtis, E. A. Cockroft, D. Fitzgerald (Ashburton district), 11. G. Flatman (Hampstead), J. Stevenson (Allenton), F. Chambers (Fairton), J. Mason (Chertsey), R. Pearce (Willowby), E. H. Davies (Ealing), C, Sewell (Mayfield) and E. A. Vaughan (Methven) will attend the Dominion Conference of Women’s Institutes in Wellington on Wednesday and Thursday.
