PROVINCIAL HOTEL.
Question of Endorsing License. A further adjournment of one month was granted by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning on the question of endorsing the license of the Provincial Hotel. The licensee, John Griffin, was recently dealt with in the Magistrate’s Court for after-hours trading, and the Magistrate then said that he would allow a month to elapse in order to see how the hotel w f as conducted'. Mr Watts, who represented Griffin, said that the hotel had been conducted well during the past month. “ The hotel has been particularly well conducted, the police having received no complaints so far. It appears that the law is being very strictly observed in the meantime,” said Senior-Sergeant Fox.
The Magistrate, in ordering a further adjournment, asked the senior-sergeant to prepare a report on the conduct of the hotel.
