ALL BLACK HONOURED.

Presentations to Hokitika Player. (Special to the “ Star.”) HOKITIKA, July 21. A complimentary dance was accbrded Ron King, of Hokitika, last evening in recognition of his inclusion in the 1934 All Black team to tour Australia. His wide popularity was shown by the large attendance and the rousing reception given him. The dance was organised by a committee representing citizens and sports bodies. _Mr J. C. ' Stafford, president of the Westland Rugby Sub-TTniori, congratulated King upon his inclusion in the team, and wished him a successful tour. He said that this was the third occasion on which Hokitika had supplied an All Black. H. Rutland was the first in 1892, and F. Freitas gained the honour a few The Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry) added h,is W-ibute and presented King with a travelling rug and suitcase. Mr T>. R. Dowell, one of the West Const selectors, congratulated King. TTe said that King’s inclusion in the team wa s due to his own ability. King was handicapped in comparison with plavers in tlie cities, ns the latter received considerably more publicity, and thus were always before the eyes of the selectors. Mr J. s. Langford presented King with a gold wristlet watch on behalf of fellow workmen. King will be a guest et a dinner *o he tendered to South Westland this evening and at an Excelsior Club function on Monday cvenig.
