TROUT FOR CHATHAMS.
Following on representations made by Major G. F. Hutton to the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society, 5000 brown trout eyed ova have been sent by the steamer Tees for liberation in a lake about five miles from Jvai'ngaroa, Chatham Islands An effort was made some years ago to establish trout in a lake in the islands, but it is feared that the eels which abounded there preyed on them.
