EARTHQUAKES ROCK PANAMA.
Town of David Destroyed. FORTY TREMORS FELT DURING THREE DAYS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 21, 9.45 a.m.) PANAMA, July 20. David City, the third largest city in Panama, has been almost completely destroyed by earthquakes during the last three days. The Premier, Senor Solis, reported to-day that after an aeroplane survey |ot the area he would say that the “ city must practically be rebuilt.” The Canal Hydrographic Office reported five tremors on Thursday, making a total of forty during ' the last three days.
The town of David is situated on the river David and is 205 miles from Panama City. It is the centre of a rich pastoral and mining area and has a population of 10,000. A new road to Panama was opened in 1931.
