An assault by a on an inspector at Wey bridge police station resulted in P.C. Colin F. Sutton, an old Bluecoat schoolboy, having to appear before the magistrates at Chertsey. Inspector Bishop said he. was sitting in his office when Sutton entered and asked for permission to go to Imbercourt. He told him he would have to remain in the police station. Sutton then struck him with his fist. Cross-examined, Inspector Bishop admitted that at the time Sutton's mother was seriously ill and that she had since died. Counsel: The effect of the order was that he could not go and see his dying mother? —Yes. The Bench said there would be a conviction, but sentence would be postponed for a week.
