To raise funds to assist distressed I bandsmen was a proposal brought up' by Mr J. Nuttall at the annual meet- i ing of the Canterbury Provincial Bands j Association last evening. H e said that ] one Sunday in each year should be devoted to a special band contest for this purpose. Bandsmen gave their services to the public free and he thought the public would be willing to assist bandsmen who were now in distress. After a short discussion, it was decided that the executive committee consider the question and formulate a scheme for a concert.
