Queen Carnival to Raise Funds for Relief. At the request of the Lyttelton Unemployed Workers’ Association, the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester) has convened a meeting of citizens to be held on Monday evening at 7.30 in the Council Chamber to consider a proposal to hold a queen carnival in aid of the relief of distress. The Lyttelton Relief Committee yesterday distributed twelve tons of coal among the unemployed and others in need of assistance. Seamen’s Institute. An enjoyable whist drive, arranged by Mrs Mintey for the Lyttelton Ladies’ Guild, was held in the Seamen’s Institute on Thursday evening. At the conclusion of the play the prizes were handed to the winners by Mrs Minteyj and supper was afterwards served. The prizes and refreshments were provided l by the guild. Ladies’ Golf Match. The following team will represent the Lyttelton Ladies’ Golf Club in a match against the Russley Ladies’ Club, at Charteris Bay on Tuesday: Misses Z. Hudson, I. Plimmer, E. Ayers, C. Williams, M. Williams and Mrs A. Jackson.
