BEING A STARLET.
“Listen, listen, listen to me! I've a tale to tell, as you can see!” It’s a cheery tale, too; and a message to those who read it. It is long, long since the “ Star ” Circle first started, but they were such happy, satisfying \-ears. Seven of them—seven long, cheery years! We have one real everlasting Friend, and He. of course, is the Father; next comes our mother and father and relations, and then another real, faithful friend, Aunt Hilda.
Auntie always gives her friendship to the Starlets, and a friendship that every Starlet should share. Such loads the Starlets must have learned since they first joined our band! We’ve learnt to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves, we’ve learnt to show our gratitude to others in little kindnesses, we’ve learnt always “ to fight against what is wrong, and to stand up for what is right,” we’ve learnt to persevere and yto never give in, and we've been taught, oh, such numbers and numbers of things! Some of these things were told to us by our parents, but Aunt Hilda has shown us the value of the rest. She has shown us how terrible poverty must be, how sad it must be to see so many little boys and girls, men and women shiver under thin blankets; how disheartening it must be to sit in a bitterly cold, fireless room, and how sorrowful it is to see small children out in the cold without very warm clothing. So now we’re making sunshine patches. “ Sunshine patches, red, £lue and gold. Always ready to brave the cold!” Rally, Starless, Rally! This is my message to-night: Join the “ Star ” Circle, and “ lend a hand,” for this is the most sincere story. Starlet Kathleen Turner.
LOTS OP EYES. • Quite a shower of all kinds of buttons came in this week, and Aunt Hilda thanks the givers. When postage stamps were not tumbling from letters, buttons and pieces of buttons were, for a few bone buttons got broken in the post. However, you may still send in more if you wish. And a big and hearty you to all givers.
