Trouble at the Irish Championships. KIRKWOOD'S ACCUSATIONS. United Press Assn.—By Electrio . Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 19. Officials of the Irish Golfing Union strongly resent Kirkwoood’s accusation that during searches for his golf ball a steward twice trod it into the ground. The secretary of the Championships Committee says:—“ It is a grave reflection on the sportsmanship of Irish golfers. We investigated the matter, and are satisfied t-hat there is no foundation for the accusation.” Kirkwood replies: ** I think the officials owe me an apology. I will never again play in an Irish championship.” Christchurch Club. The following will represent the Christchurch Club against Avondale at Avondale on July 22:—C. J. Ward, R. G. Arnould, L. A. Hagley Ladies’ Club.

Playing In a semi-final for the Bean Cup at Hagley yesterday, Miss E. Atkinson beat Mrs C. G. Wilkin. The other semi-finalists are Mesdames J. C.

Cullman and Trevor Foster. In the junior Bean Cup, Mrs W. J. Cartwright beat Mrs W. R. Knowles, and Mrs C. Bonnington beat Miss R. Hall. The L.G.U. medal match resulted In a win for Mrs H. Harman in the silver medal division, and the match in the bronze division, between Mrs R. V. Kennedy and Miss L. Harcourt, resulted in a tie. The following were the scores: SILVER MEDAL DIVISION.
