Competition Attracts Many Entr'H-s. SOME ORIGINAL IDEAS. The “Star” doll-dresKing competition, which was judged th-day, was an overwhelming success, sccVes of dolls arriivng by post and rail Krom everywhere. Besides every suburb in the city, entries came from Gre\'mouth, Stockton, Kumara, Reefton, 1 Rakaia and Sumner. , Every conceivable idea from "&he world of fairy tale and practicality h&d been adapted, Red* Riding Hoods', princes, Irish colleens, brides, schoolgirls, sailor boys, beach girls, hikers, shepherdesses, even Viola of “ Twelfth Night” had arrived! Crowds and crowds of baby dolls all clad in the finest of cobweb knitting and crochet in every stitch-, ply and colour of wool were there. A doll dressed as a Christmas tree from the coloured pages of the Comic Supplement was also very original, as was one clever boudoir doll in green and black. One wore the starched lace nainsook frills of the ’nineties, another beautiful little wax-faced doll went back to the same period. Three dolls were over twenty years old. The finals were judged by Miss Alice Wilson, of Beath’s, Ltd. The following is the prize-list:— FIRST PRIZE (order on “ Star ” advertiser to the value of £3). Miss Wilson remarked that she would have liked to have placed every exhibit on the prize-list, and praised the thoroughness of all the entries, special attention having been paid to all details in the most inconspicuous places.
