“MISERY FARM.”

Novel Social Held at Sydenham. Tuesday night was “ misery farm ” night at the Kindergarten Schoolroom. Queen Street, Sydenham. There was a record attendance and the novelty prizes were much appreciated by all present. Credit is due to the Mothers’ Committee, which worked hard to make the evening a success. Farmer Cole, M.C., was ably assisted by his head ploughman, Toby. The music for the dancing whs supplied by Bamfleld’s Orchestra, and extras were played by Vic Claude’s Duo, banjo and guitar. Winners of the various competitions were as follows:—Monte Carlo, Mrs iA’Court and Mrs Courley (pair of rabbits and rooster) ; married couples’ waltz, Mrs Bugg (White Leghorn pullet): canary competition, Mrs Courley; lucky spot. Dick Walls (duck); married ladies’ prize, Mrs Thompson (canary); single ladies’ prize, Sadie Pullen (pair of pigeons); lucky chicken, Mrs Wainsopp; statue dance, Sadie Pullen and Mr Medcalf (rabbit and puppy); lucky number, Phyllis Taylor (White Leghorn pullet); lucky poodle, Miss Barkley; lucky rabbit, Mrs Fairhall and Mrs Phipps; married men’s pigeon prize, Mr Dorn; kangaroo prize, Mr Sutherland; lucky rabbit, Mr Smith; lucky kangaroo, Miss Wicks and Miss Walls; prize pullet competition.
