FANCY DRESS DANCE-

West of England Society Members. The Canterbury West of England Society held a successful fancy dress carnival dance in the Orange Hall on Thursday evening last. Mr A. 11. Emerson, president, was in the chair, and expressed his gratification at the large attendance. The prize-winners were as follows:—Ladies, Mrs Tipping; gentlemen, Master G. Emerson; most original, Miss Bailey Monte Carlo, Mrs Bettle and Miss Gillooly; lucky entrance tickets, Mr Parnell and Mr Rhodes. Items were as follows: Ballroom episode, June and Doug. Shepherd; tap dance. Iris Shepherd; recitations, Miss Gillooly, Lola Jefferies and Mr McAlister. Bettle’s orchestra supplied music for the dancing and Mr J. Sim was M.C. Amongst those present were: Mesdames A. IP. Tipping (lStli Century), A. Af. Brittend'en (Early Victorian). . W. Oliver (Mexican Lady). Fisher (Bat), Bettle (Duchess of Devonshire), L. Wells (Japanese Lady), Sims (Capable I General), Smith (AVeldon Fashions), Robinson (Gentleman Hiker), Alisses L. Gunn (AVaitress), G. Torkington (Irish Colleen). Bailey (Parcel Post). Bettle (Alaori Lady). Melrose (Pierette), Tipping (Madame Pompadour). Litten (Hiker), M. Emerson (Chinaman), Alessrs Rhodes (Railway Porter), Al'Alisher (Highlander), Bettle (Skeleton), Unwin (Soldier), Hobbs (Alaori). and Alasters G. Emerson (Pierrot) and R. Fox (Page Boy).
