Cotsfield Wins Hunt Cup Steeplechase. HURDLES TO ROYAL LINEAGE. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, July 21. The Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club's annual race meeting was held in fine weather. The course was heavy after rain. The attendance was fair. The totalisator turnover amounted to £4343, an increase of. £973 over last year’s figures. Franklin Club’s Meeting Postponed! (Special to the "Star.”) AUCKLAND, July 21. Owing to heavy rain overnight and this morning the Franklin Racing Club’s extra permit meeting was postponed until Monday.
ADDINGTON TRACK WORK Princess Onyx Does Well. _ Slight rain fell at Addington this morning, but it was not sufficient to interfere with training operations. The track was in good order, but- all the work was done about three sulky widths from the inside rail. Garner was sent two miles, which she trotted in splendid style in 4min 44 sfec, taking 2min Zi sec to cover the first eight furlongs. A Good Trial. Mldshipmald, Explosion. Princess Onyx and Social Pest were indulged in a spin over one mile and a half. Midshipmaid made the pace to Princess Onyx. Explosion and Social Pest. They raced in that order until the straight was reached, where Explosion and Social Pest drew up to Mldshipmald and Princess Onyx. In the run home, Midshipmaid and Explosion finished two lengths clear of Princess Onyx and Social Pest. Princess Onyx gave a solid performance, and registered 3mln 36 2-ssec. Cloudy Range and Silver de Oro were associated in a bout over two miles. Cloudy Range made all the pace, but at the finish, Silver de Oro drew level with him at the finishing post. Cloudy Range did 4min 4 6 sec, and Silver de Oro 4min 45sec.| The first mile occupied 2min 24sec. Portlight went a mile and a half in 3min 32 l-ssec. He had the assistance of Dandy Loranda over the last mile. All the Way.
Prairie King, Tangatu. Graham Direct and Morello were indulged in a brush over one mile rfhd a quarter. Prairie King acted as pacemaker, and was first home with Graham Direct and Tangatu close up, Morello being two lengths further back. Time—2min 55 l-ssec. Don Chenault trotted a mile and a quarter in 3min lsec. Tempest and Morning Glory were let off with a mile and a half in 3min 50 Ezywurk was given a rousing ten furlongs, which he covered in 2niin 59sec. Trampfast and Blandford were despatched over one mile. They took lmin oOsec to do the last six furlongs. Mataunga and a novice were responsible for a mile and a quarter in 2min 57sec. Golden Direct’s task was two miles in lmin 53sec, the first mile being left behind in 2min 29see. Netta Oro paced a mile and a half in 3min 37sec. Linklight was given eight furious wh.ch he did in 2min 30sec.
