Gatherings Held in Town and Country.

In honour of Miss Pat Hegan, who is to be married shortly, Mrs G. Leney and Mrs A. Crawford entertained a number of friends at a gift evening. Competitions were won by Miss Jean Redman, Miss Eileen Yole and Mr G. Ellis. Many useful gifts were received by the guest pf honour. Those present included:—Mesdames G. Leney, A. Crawford, F. Parkes, C. Smith, W. Hegan, jun., and W. Hegan, sen., Misses Pat Hegan, Eileen Yole, Jean Redman, Hath Callum and Norma Smith. Messrs J. Simpson, G. Eliis, A. i Crawford, \V. Parker, C. Smith, W. Hegan, jun., W. Hegan, sen., and E. Hegan. Circuit Social. , On Saturday evening in the Redcllffs Methodist Church, members of the Boys* Bible Class held a novel social to entertain members of Bible classes from the Heathcote, Sumner, Woolston and Opawa Methodist Churches. Games and competitions were enjoyed. The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised Misses N. Holden, I. Cooper and G. Gee, Messrs S. and A. Primmer - and L. Holden. Mr Holden was M.C. Coming of Age Celebrated. To celebrate the coming of age of their only son, Clifford, Mr and Mrs A. S. Crowe recently entertained a number of guests at the residence of Mr and Mrs R. Hudson, Shakespeare Road. A pleasant evening was spent in games and competitions. Mr S. Winder was M.C. Competitions were won by Miss V. French and Mr F. Winder. A, song was given by Mr George Macann. The health of the guest of the evening was proposed by Mr John Mauds ley, and the health of the parents was proposed by Mr R. Hudson. Those present were:—Mesdames A. S. Crowe. R. Hudson and B. Crowe, Misses J. Hudson, C. Crowe, M. Gardiner, M Wright, S. Everett, V. French, J. Button, N. Hudson. L. Hudson. M. Howart.h, Messrs A. S. Crowe, R. Hudson. R. Crowe, r*. Crowe, J. Maudsley, S. Winder. F. Winder. X. Watkins G. Macann, W. Howarth. R. Puddle, N. Voyce, R. Sanderson, N. Nicolle and A. Simpson. Party at Beckenham. In connection with the sweet stall at the sale of work held yesterday afternoon at the Beckenham Church of Christ, a social evening was given recently by Mrs J. Tvrrell-Baxter at her home in Western Terrace. A happy evening was spent in playing games, and several items were given for the further entertn itiment of the guests. Pastor J. Tyrreli-Bnxter and Mr W. JBoi«ghen were masters of ceremonies. Those who rendered items were: Mesdames Douse and P. Tyrrell-Baxter, Misses M. Wright. G. Tvrrell-Baxter. B. Burt. r>. Davidson. J. Wool cock. E. Tyre I! -Ba x ter and M. Wright. Messrs nark. Roughen and M’Oee. Mrs Tyrrell-Baxter was assisted by her mother. Mrs M. Davidson, and by Mrs D. Tvrrell-Baxter and Miss L. Tyrrell-j Baxter.
