GOLFERS’ BALL.

Templeton Club Organises Enjoyable Dance. HELD AT RICCARTON. Though the Templeton Golf Club is a fairly recent addition to the list of golf clubs in Christchurch, the members already have many friends, who helped swell the attendance at the club’s annual dance, held last evening at the Riccarton racecourse tea-rooms. Representatives from many other clubs were present, thus demonstrating in a practical fashion the friendly spirit which prevails among the golfing community in general. The dance hall presented a brilliant scene with decorations carried out in amber shades. Green ferns and lauristina made a fitting setting and greenery was arranged also on the orchestral dais. The supper-tables were daintily arranged with vases of holly and larkspur.

The guests were received by the president, Mr W. W. M’Kinney and Mrs M’Kinney. Mrs M’Kinney wore an attractive frock of paeon blue lace with a velvet coatee.

An energetic committee was responsible for the excellent arrangements, the members being Miss Maysie Still, who wore a frock of eau de nil lame and Dr F. W. Helmore (chairman), Messrs N. H. Skinner, V. Parker, M. O. Sinclair, J. Allen (honorary treasurer) and R. Spicer (honorary secretary). Mr B. Keene was M.C. Continuous music was supplied by two orchestras under the leadership of Mr Fred Smith. Miss Marjory Austin entertained with an exhibition of acrobatic dancing. The honoured guests were: Mr and Mrs H. R. Blair (Shirley), Mr and Mrs Morgan Evans, Mr and Mrs Mac Nab, Dr and Mrs F. W. Helmore. Mrs Blair wore a becoming frock of blue satin and a chiffon coatee; Mrs Evans was in black georgette and angelskin lace; Mrs MacNab’s frock of black windswept satin had a matching velvet, coatee; Mrs Helmore wore white lace and georgette with a pink shoulder spray.
