United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. I Received July 18, 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 17. Hubert Oppcrman is attempting to break the Land’s End-John o’ Groats C3'ding record. He left Land’s End at 7 a.m. yesterday and reached Worcester at 8.40 p.m. Riding magnificently he reached Shap (Westmorland) at seven this morning, a distance of 431 miles, thus lowering the world's twenty-four hours’ record.
