FORGED BANKNOTES.

Number Presented in Wellington. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 16. The head office of a leading bank tonight reported that six or seven forged £1 banknotes were presented in Wellington to-day. The notes were all dated August 1, 1930. and the numbers were all 11574 or HB75 — (the first three figures). Both signatures on the notes were illegible. While they are obvious forgeries, on examination the notes might fairly easily pass as genuine.
