Workers’ Delegate Returns From Russia. (Received July 17, 12.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 17. Books and pamphlets brought from Russia by Mr J. E. Goldsmith, who represented the Wonthaggi Miners in the Australian delegation which visited Russia to attend the May Day celebrations, were seized by Customs officials when he arrived at Melbourne. Mr Goldsmith inspected the Russian coalfields at Stalina. He said that the workers’ conditions in the mines were far superior to those in Australian pits. The miners had four days on and one day oil on full pay each week.
