Except for tar-sealing it was expect, ed that the whole of the Riccarton Avenue work would be completed within two or three weeks, the Works Committee reported to the City Council last evening. The report stated that good progress had been made on the job since the last meeting, the metalling having been completed. The grading of the footpath was well in hand and the footpath on the south side had been screened. There was, however, a fair amount of work to be done on the north side, where a fence had also to be shifted. Particulars of the refunds of excess fees paid at the City abattoir during the period from 1926 to 1929, made by authority of Section 28 of the Local Legislation Act 1933, were reported to the City Council last evening by the Finance Committee. An amount of £2997 5s 7d has been allocated among the master butchers and the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd.
