QUOTA RESTRICTIONS.

Colonies and Foreign Piece Goods. British Official Wireless. (Received July 17, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, July 16. The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Sir Philip Cunliffe-lJister) informed the House of Commons that the necessary action had already been taken by the great majority of the British Colonies, which had been invited to introduce the system of quota restrictions on imports of foreign piece goods. According to the available information, action had been taken in the Bahamas, Barbados, British Guiana, Cyprus, Fiji, Gambia, Jamaica, Malay States, Malta, Mauritius, Nigeria, St Lucia, St Vincent, the Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somaliland, the Straits Settlements and Trinidad. Apart from action as to textile quotas, special duties had been imposed i~ the West African Colonies on the imports of certain other manufactured goods from Japan. -
