Pouishnoff-Stevens Recital
To-night,
After a phenomenally successful season in Australia and the North Island, Leff Pouishnoff, declared “ one of the most brilliant pianists London has ever heard ” by the London “ Daily Telegraph,’’ and Horace Stevens, the worldfamous Australian bass-baritone from Covent Garden, will appear in the Radiant Hall to-night, under the direction of the distinguished impresario, Hugo Larsen. Few artists have created such a sensation in London, that most sceptical of cities, as Pouishnoff did when he made his first appearance in England in 1921. His fame was established in a single night, and, as the critics wrote the next morning, he had not played a few bars before it was realised that they were in the presence of a great master, one of the few geniuses born in a generation. Collaborating with this phenomenal pianist is Horace Stevens, the great Australian bass-bari-tone, whose sensational rise in the world of music will always remain on incentive to young Australian singer? Stevens was born at Windsor. nea r Melbourne. This is his first tour of New Zealand. In bringing together two such famous artists in one concert tour Hugo Larsen is doing music-lovers great service.
