GUIDE MOVEMENT.
Dedication of Standard at St Peter’s. FIRST CHURCH PARADE. When special annual festival ser’ices were held at St Peter’s Church, Upper Riccarton, yesterday, to comnemorate the memory of St Peter, the St Peter’s Companv of Giri Guid-s and Brownie Pack held their first church parade and attended the morning service, conducted by the .Rev 11. T. York, assisted by the Ven Archdeacon G. W. York. Among the officers preent were:—Miss Bromley Cocks (Provincial Commissioner), Mrs K. G. Livingstone (District Commissioner), Miss Elinor Pitt (captain of Girl Guides), Misses S. Corsbie (Brown Dwl) and O. A Jones (Tawny Owl of Brownies). Before a large omgrega.ion the dedication took place of the Guides’ standard. The colour pa r tv « orr.prised Misses Kathleen Anderson, Kathleen Keene and Kathleen Field. In his sermon, Mr York welcomed i .11 officers associated with the Guide iid Brownie movement. He said that 1 the movement was world-wide, and ! was a wonderful foundation for the j building of character. It gave him great pleasure to welcome the ewly organised movement into St 3 eter’s parish. and he hoped they would all take for their patron St ! ?eter, who was the most humane of j :en. The first enrolling ceremony of the lewly formed Upper Riccarton Biownie s ack was held on Saturday afternoon n the St Peter’s Parish Hall. Miss S. 'orsbie, Brown Owl, welcomed Miss D. Anderson, Divisional Commissioner, n.d Mrs. H. G. Livingstone, District Commissioner, also the Rev K. T York nd Mrs York. The enrolling ceremony .nd presentation of badges was conlucted by Miss Anderson. Ten memiers were enrolled.
An enrolling ceremony of the newly ormed Riccarton Girl Guides took dace on Saturday afternoon in the Scouts’ room, Upper Riccarton. There was an attendance of fifteen nembers. Five members were enrolled ecently by the District Commissioner, ♦frs H. G. Livingstone, and five more vere enrolled on Saturday afternoon >y Miss D. Anderson, Divisional Comnissioner.
