EIGHTIETH ANNIVERSARY.

Dunedin Presbytery Founded in June, 1854. (Special to the “ Star.”) DUNEDIN, June 27. One of the most important ecclesiastical events in the history of Otago comes to-morrow with the celebration of the eightieth anniversary of the founding of the Dunedin Presbytery, the governing body in the administration of the Presbyterian Church in Dunedin. It was on June 27, 1854, not quite six years after the first,, immigrant ships entered the harbour, that the Rev Thomas Burns sat with the Rev William Will, the Rev William Bannerman, Captain William Cargill, John Allan and John Gibson M’Glashan, to constitute the first Presbytery of Otago and Southland.
