Shift the Destructor.
Dear Sir,—May I express my appreciation of the letter signed “ Clean Air ” in the 44 Star ” on Saturday. I had occasion to walk through Cranmer Square about U. 30 c-ne evening, when the wind was coming fiom the east, and even there the smell and smoke from the destructor chimney made the atmosphere most disagreeable. It seems to me that removing it out of the city would be one of the greatest benefits that could be conferred by our council. The members are elected on the understanding that they are out to do the best they can for the city, and I venture to suggest that if even 10 per cent of them lived within the reach of the smoke, dirt and smell belched forth from it night and day its removal would be a matter of the greatest importance on their agenda paper.—l am, etc., . M.I.T.
