BOOK NOT PRODUCED
Wordy Duel at Cycling Meeting. QUESTION OF MINUTES. A sharp exchange took place at the meeting of the New Zealand Cycling Federation last evening. The principals were Messrs J. Sturrcek and W. J. Walter, and the bone of contention was the location of the federation’s minute book, which was not produced at the meeting. A motion that recov ery of the book be left in the hands of the secretary was not put to the meeting. “There is a point I would like to raise,” said Mr J. Sturrock. “and that’s about the minute book. The secretary is keeping the minutes on loose leaves. Surely the federation is worthy of a book in which lu keep its i minutes.”
The chairman (Mr J. Kennedy) : That’s all right. Tie pastes up the leaves when he gets home. Mr Sturrock: Where is the old] minute book? Mr W. J. Walter: If everything I j hear is correct, Mr Sturrock wants to : force the federation to disband. Why ; worry about the minute book? Mr Sturrock replied that it was right and proper that the minute book should be brought to the meeting. “Mr { Walter promised to bring it here this i evening,” he said, “and I would like to know’ why it is not here.” j Mr Kennedy: We could toss for it j Mr Sturrock: Mr Walter has no right j to hang on to the book. I Mr Walter: You don’t know who has ] got the book, and you have no right to , j make a statement like that, i Mr Sturrock: I know that Mr Walter : said that he had the book and that he ; j promised to bring it here. Mr Walter: But why worry about it < if vou are going to close the federation 1 down 5 j Mr Sturrock then moved that pro-
ceedings be taken to recover the book. The motion was not seconded. Mr J. Coffey then moved that the matter be left in the hands of the secretary. There was, he said, some truth in what Mr Sturrock had said. Mr Sturrock seconded the motion, which was not put to the meeting, the chairman without observing this formality, calling on the secretary to name the. next business.
