Truman scored good possibles for the winners, as also did H. tirade (Returned Soldiers). Ford Motors registered their best total to date against Sydenham, but were still three points in arrears at the final count. F. Batt and C. Jessop put on possibles for Sydenham, who had no fewer than five scores of 69 in a row. A. Hughes and A. Bruning, with possibles, were top scorers for Ford Motors. Christchurch Working Men's Club de feated Lyttelton by 552 to 54 9. W.M.C shot consistently, and deserved their win. J. Hollows and G. Crimp, both possibles, were top scorers for the winners. Crimp, who- divided the honours in last year's senior aggregate, is again shooting well. He should be near the top again when the final match is fired. R. Sow den (70) was top scorer for Lyttelton. Although United deserved their win against Cashmere, they were, perhaps, a trifle lucky that Cashmere's last three men dropped six points between them. United, on the other hand, shot three splendid possibles, which won them the match by two points. It was great shooting, and F. Hodge. S.O. Hay and E. Cork in are to be congratulated on their fine effort. Cashmere also had three possibles—put on by L. Carlyle. F. Sullivan and R. Neill—and the team as a whole shot more consistently than in previous matches. Junior Notes. of the Junior competition were fired last week. Cashmere, the present leaders, are so far undefeated, with Marist Old Boys one point further back. Christchurch are in third place-. Owing to the withdrawal of Sydenham. the remaining teams will have an additional bye in the second and third rounds. Cashmere shot up to form in defeating Heathcote by 049 points to 541. Heathcote showed promise in their earlier matches, but have not fulfilled expectations. F. Lee and G. Piereon scored possibles for Cashmere, and R. honey (69? was outstanding for Heathcote. * Christchurch, like Heathcote. have not maintained the form shown in their first matches. They were again easily defeated this time at the hands of Marist Old Boys. L. Hyan (70). W. Whittaker (70) and J M’Cafthy (69) were good scores for Marist, and A. Erick, son (6 9) was best for Christchurch. Railway and Kalapoi were evenly matched. Railway winning by two points. -I MKenzie (69) fo r Railway and R. Lyttelton, who have won all of their matches to date, look like being a hard proposition for the remaining eleven teams Last week they defeated Celtic Ladies by 20 points. Miss Wliellei (t;9) and Mrs Nut tall (69) were good s.orers for Celtic, and G. Smith and F. Oakley scored possibles for Lyttelton.

Christchurch Working Men's Club, the present runners-up, defeated New Brighton Ladies by five points. New Brighton Ladies, after making a fine start by winning their first four matches, have now lost three in succesWard’s Ladies had a good win over Railway. A great possible by Mrs R. Erickson and a 69 each by Mrs Harper and Mrs A. B. L. Smith were mainly responsible for the good total of 537. This season the scoring in the President’s grade lias been most erratic. At times teams have shot totals equal to senior standards. After registering moderate totals in a number of contests. Returned Soldiers scored 548 against Christchurch last week. This was bad luck for Christchurch, who scored 541, a very good total for this grade. Cashmere defented Marist Old Boys by 539 points to 528. but Marist should do much better in future contests. W. J. Gabb was top scorer for Cashmere and the match. A. W. Tongue (69°) also shot well for Cashmere. H. Gillum and H. O'Connell, with 6S each, were best for Marist Old Boys. Sydenham defeated Horn inion Motors by two points in a match of small scores. H. Bridgewater, a possible, and T. Stringer (69) were outstanding for Sydenham, and K. Smith (68) was top for Dominion Motors. k This Week’s Matches. The draw for this week's matches Is as follows:—• Seniors—Sumner v. Christchurch, Lyttelton v. Ford Motors. United v. Sydenham, Returned Soldiers v. New Brighton. Christchurch Working Men’s Club v. Cashmere. Juniors—Railway v. Christchurch. City v. Marist Old Boys. Kaiapoi Woollen v. Cashmere. Heathcote a bye. President’s—Cashmere v. Returned Soldiers, Sydenham v. Ward's Ladies, Railway v. Christchurch. New Brighton Ladies v. Celtic Ladies. Lyttelton v. Marist Old Boys. Dominion Motors v. Christchurch Working Men's Club. All matches will -take place on the range of the first-mentioned team in each case, with the exception of City v. Marist Old Roys. If arrangements can he made, this will be decided on the Marist range. jottings. A record number of possibles was scored last week—22 in senior grade, four in the junior, and five in the President's. Two of the latter were registered by women. United (Christchurch), who have alreadv won the Tindall Cup, a teams competition conducted by the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association, have a strong claim for the Winchester Cup. which was completed last week. They registered the record score of 993 out of 1000. The previous record was 957. A new club, the City Miniature Rifle Club, was formed last week. It bus a strong membership and will use the rooms over Mr F. Ntchollss shooting range. Lower High Street. This club hopes to lake up the vacancy in the junior grade caused by the withdrawal of Sydenham. Ford Motors visited Leeaton Inst Saturday evening and fired a friendly match against the local club.
