BALL AT HALSWELL.
Bachelors Arrange Dance With Success. A LARGE ATTENDANCE. The annual ball arranged by the bachelors of the Halswell district was held last Thursday night in the Halswell Public Hall and was an outstanding success. There were more than 150 couples present. The hall was decorated with greenery and red, blue and yellow streamers. Mr George Bradford's Orchestra supplied the dance music and the supper extras were played by Miss Kunice Meyer (Ladbrooks) and Miss Stella. Dow. The grand march was led by Miss Hazel M’Phail and Mr Alex. M’Connell (chairman of the committee). A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Ullrich and Mr K. Tonge. A clever exhibition of tap-dancing was given by Mr Bob Tonge, and an exhibition waltz and one-step were danced by Mr and Mrs W. Todd. The members of the committee were:—Messrs A. M’Connell (chairman), C. Pike (secretary), Clarence Brooks (treasurer), P. Jordan, R. Storer, T. Wilhelm, W. Streeter, A. Brown, M. Larsen and F. Popkin. The joint masters of ceremonies were Messrs C. Pike, A. M’Connell and T. Wilhelm.
