THIEVES TAKE SILVER.
Man Loses Trophies Won at School. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 25. The residence of Mr Gibson Stott in Hobson Street was entered between midnight and one o’clock on Sunday morning, and a quantity of silver, which the thieves wrapped in a hull rug, was stolen. Two maids and two children were asleep in the house. J t was not till Mr Stott and his wife arrived home that it was first noticed anything was amiss. The stolen goo Is were mostly cups that Mr Stott ha:l won at school, and a large clock was also taken. The thieves probably were disturbed, as other silver articles were not touched. Entry was apparently gained through the dining-room door,* which was accidentally left unlocked. The thieves must have watched the house till the lights were extinguished at 11.45 p.m. by a maid, who, finding a window in the washhouse open, before she retired made a hurried search of the house, but failed to try the diningroom door.
