Harmonic Society Scores a

Success. ENERGETIC LADIES’ AUXILIARY. The large bridge party held last evening at Ballantyne’s was a triumph of successful organisation, praise for which must be freely given to the newly-formed ladies’ auxiliary of the Christchurch Harmonic Society, with Mrs W. J. Hunter at its head. It is not the easiest thing in the world to arrange a bridge party as large as this, but last evening there was not a single hitch. Contract and auction bridge players, those who were playing 500, and others for whom cards had no lure, were all catered for. novel deck games and competitions being arranged for the entertainment of the last class. Since its inception a few weeks ago, the Ladies’ Auxiliary has done much to encourage an interest in the work of the Harmonic Society, besides adding materially to its funds bv means of their socials and parties. Large bowls of chrysanthemums decorate' l , the reception rooms. Prizes were given by Mesdames C. Niven Forrest, W. J. Hunter, Harold Biggs, E. D. Pullon and E. W. Archbold and Mr V. C. Peters. The sale of home-made sweets durirg the evening augmented the funds Wearing a frock of Parma violet velvet and a brown velvet and gold lame coat, Mrs W. J. Hnntei, president of the auxiliary, received the guests. She was assisted by Mr V. C. Peters, the conductor of the society. "Members of the committee were:— Mesdames C. L. Peters, Niven Forrest, Harold Biggs, W. M. Cotter, William Machin, K. G. Archer, R. E. Voller, W. M. Cotter, Ernest Archer and P. A. Le Brun and Miss Doris Webb (secretary). They were assisted by Mesdames Robinson Hall and E. D. Pullon. The prize-winners were as follows:

Auction bridge, Mrs Salmond and Mr W. J. Spratt; contract bridge, Mrs Morgan and Mr Hunnibell; 500, Mrs C. M. Edmonds. Those unable to attend sent contributions or had tables at home.
