confidently expected in his quarters that he will win liv a k.o. So far lie has not been knocked out, and his ability to take punches without suffering unduly makes him a worthy contender for the title.
Ray Nieol, the holder of the title, will arrive in Christchurch to-morrow morning. He is trained by Mr Tom Harris, who may possibly accompany him. From private advice received. Nieol fought a sterling fight against Parker at Timaru on Thursday night. The decision—a draw—caused considerable surprise. If the forthcoming fight with Luttrell goes the full distance in all probability Nieol will win on points. Undoubtedly he is a clever two-handed puncher, and will use all his ringcraft to retain the title. A Pine Record. Dick Scott has accepted the challenge of Jack Kelly for a six-rouud preliminary to the big fight. Kelly has an unusual record of 102 fights with only 19 defeats. Seventeen of these have been reversed, and he ranks to-day as the leading light-weight in Southland. Norm Fisher has been suffering from a cold, but has fully recovered and has i esumed strict training. iPercy Hawes also reports that training proceeds apace. He realises that he is meeting one of the oleveres: feather-weights in the Dominion in Cyril Hurne. A 1 f Bourne travelled to Timaru on Thursday night to meet Brandt of Timaru. and won by a knock-out in the third round. He was accompanied on the trip by Mr Jack Luttrell, who was behind him in his corner, and Messrs' T. Aspell and B. Rennell, members of the Christchurch executive.
