HORNBY-ISLINGTON NEWS.

The weekly euchre tournament condneted by the Social Hall Committee in the # Islington Hal/ on Wednesday was well attended. The first prizes were won by Mrs Simpson and Mrs Hudson, and the second prizes by Aliss J. Rogatski and Air W. Dawson. Ztodge Meeting. The fortnightly meeting of the Olive Branch Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held in the " Parish Hall, Hornby, on Tuesday evening. A.D, Brother Johansen presiding over a fair attendance of members. The secretary of the No. 1 Royal Arch Chapter forwarded tickets for the combined Druids* ball which is to be held early in July. An invitation from the Roy a 1 Orange Lodge, No. 24 a. to its annual ball. wa« accepted. The bards* report on sick members was received, and sick pay amounting to £8 10s. and accounts amounting to £75. were passed for payment. It was decided to invite the .Riccartion Oddfellows to a game of cards in a month's time. The D.P. urged members to be present at the next lodge meeting, as the installation of officers would take place. Obit-nary. Mr Henry Alsop. an employee of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company. Ltd., who died suddenly at his work, was a well-known resident of Templeton. He was the second son of the late Air and Mrs Henry Alsop, of Templeton. Born in England sixty-two years ago, he arrived in New Zealand with his parents in the ship Alermaid. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Church of England Cemetery. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev Hubert Jones. The pall-bearers were four nephews, Messrs A. Tippet. T. Tippet, F. Tippet and R. Glading. The chief mourners were Alessrs R. and A. Alsop (brothers), Mrs Tippet (Hornby), Mrs Williams (Linwood), Mrs Glading (Spreydon). Mrs Roscoe (New Brighton) and Mrs Pawsey (Wakanui), sisters. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. The many wreaths included one from his fellowworkers of the Islington Freezing Works/
