LATE MRS C. J. STANLEY.

The death occurred recently at the residence of her daughter, Mrs B. Morrison. Kitchener Square, Timaru. of Mrs Mary Elizabeth Stanley, aged seventy-four years. The late Mrs J Stanley arrived at Lyttelton with her parents, Mr and Mrs E. Pester, by the Tiptree in 1864. at,,, the age of fou years. Her mother dying in 1874, a West Eyre ton, she took charge of the home for her father at fourteen years of age. until the younger sisters grew up. Ten years later she came to Sawyers Arms Road, Papanui, and j married Mr C. J. Stanley in 1884. For. twenty-four years they lived at Broad | way, II are wood, until in 1908 they took up sheep farming in the Hunter district, where they remained until 1920. when they retired in Timaru. The late Mrs Stanley is survived by two sons, W. IT. Stanley, Ngapara, and C. C. Stanley. Temuka, and three daughters, Mrs R. Morrison, Timaru Mrs A. Morrison, Wellington, and Mrs W. Jackson, Fairview. The funeral took place at the Timaru Cemetery on Sunday, May 13. Two grandsons, Charles W. Stanley and Athol Morrison, and two nephews, Stanley Harrington and Harold Harrington, were the pall-bearers. The funeral was largely attended by friends from Wellington. Christchurch, Temuka, Oamaru, Timaru and Hunter.
