Meyer Beats Santen.

Per Press Association. WANGANUr, May 23. The American wrestlers, Fred Meyer and Charlie Santen, met in a six rounds contest at Wanganui to-night, Meyer winning by two falls to one. The bout was interesting although marked by spectacular punching and kicking. The first fall came in the third round when Santen threw Meyer with a flying head scissors and applied a body prcsß. Meyer retaliated in the fifth round with a back loop slam and a double arm lock, and he secured his second fall in the following round with a body press following a dump. The match marked the opening of the Wanganui season and was largely attended, the spectators being well pleased with the bout and the four amateur matches.

Caviare is a kind of pickled sturgeon’s roe, formerly much used by wealthy Russians, but unattainable by the general public.
