Business was brisk to-day on the Stock Exchange, and investors unable to obtain their requirements in Government stocks are turning their attention to other sections, with the result that there is an all-round firming tendency. Insurances, especially, are sought after. Many other lines have also advanced. Pukemlro Collieries sold up to £1 6s 6d yesterday afternoon, and at the morning's call holders had retired to £1 7s. Wilson's Cement sold at between £l Ss 3d and £1 8s 9d. Farmers’ Trading again attracted interest, with buyers for ordinary shares at 5s and for preference at 11s 6d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following w-port from its London office; Butter—77s to 7Ss. Cheese—White, 455; coloured, 44s to 44s Gd. Markets steady. WILSON’S PORTLAND CEMENT, LTD. The accounts of Wilson's (N.Z.) Portland Cement, Ltd., for the year ended March 31 disclose a net profit of £45,743, compared with £39,999 earned in the previous year, and £62,956 in 1934-32. The balance available from the previous year is £45,343, making £94,088 available for appropriation. An interim dividend of 5 per cent absorbed £15.000, and the directors recommended a final dividend of 5 per cent, absorbing a further £15.000. The balance to be carried forward is £64,088. LAWSON’S PLAT GOLD SLUICING CO., LTD. The secretary of Lawson's Flat Gold Sluicing Company, Ltd.. advises that the result for the four weeks ended May 19 for 361 hours actual sluicing was 57 ounces 13 dwts «’• grams of retorted gold.
