A NEW GOVERNOR.

British Official Wireless. (Received May 23, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, May 22. The King has approved the appointment of Lord Erskine as Governor of the Presidency of Madras in succession to Sir George Stanley, whose term will expire in November. Sir George Stanley is at present deputising as Viceroy during the absence of the Earl of Willingdon Lord Erskine is the Unionist member of Parliament for Weston-super-Mare and has l>een assistant whip in the National Government since 1932.
