In the second round of the British amateur golf championship at Prestwick, M’Lean beat H. M. Gow. 3 and 2; Bentley defeated R. Neill, 3 and 1. Dunlap (U.S.A.) had a narrow escape in the second round, when his compatriot, Breault, an insurance broker holidaying in Europe, with no pretentious golfing fame, lfd until the turn, lie was all square at the fourteenth. When Dunlap won the fifteenth he had to struggle hard to maintain his advantage, in which he succeeded by outdriving his opponent. G. Moreland and J. Fischer proved the excellence of American golf. Fischer led at the twelfth with a birdie four. He halved the next two with five-yard putts. Fischer crashed his way to victory with birdie threes at the fifteenth and sixteenth.
