TINWALD STOCK SALE.
(Special to the “ Star.”) ASHBURTON, May 2± Prices for fat sheep at the Tinwald stock sale to-day showed an advance of about Is a head, compared with the Ashburton sale last week. There was a short yarding, and bidding was brisk for butchers’ lines, of which only a few pens were sent forward. The entry cc nsisted chiefly of ewes, the top price of 18s lOd going to Mr R. Hampton, of Tinwald, who also secured 17s lOd for a pen of seven. Mr J. Reid, Flemington, sold six at 16s lOd, and Mr W. E. Bishop, Lynnford, nine at 16s 7d. The values for prime ewes ranged from 13s lOd to 15s lOd. and for lighter down to 12s. Mr B. M’Rae, Tinwald, topped the fat lamb market with a single sale at 24s 6d. The next best price was 24s Id, which went to Mr G. W. Deal’s estate, Eiffelton, for a pen of six. Values In prime lambs ranged from ISs lOd to 235. There was only a small entry of fat wethers, the prices for which ranged from 18s 4d to 24s lOd. There was a good entry *of cattle. Fat heifers brought from 30s to £5 17s, six cows 12s 6d to £2 17s 6d. dairy cow £3 10s. fat cow £3 5s and fat steer £8 15s, vealers to 27s 6d and cow and calf 42s 6d.
