Dr G. Fenwick arrived from the north this morning. Professor T. 11. Eastcrfield arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr E. A. Gibson, aerodrome engineer to the Public Works Department, arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr W. G. Fernie, general manager of the Calder Mac.’cay Co., Ltd., left for Dunedin this morning. Mr R. Richards, head master of Christ’s College, left for Wellington by last njght's steamer. Mr John M’Gibbon and Mr W. O. Campbell were passengers for Wellington by the Wahine last evening. Mr 11. F. Nicoll left for Wellington by the inter-island steamer last evenMr F. E. Graham was among the passengers for Wellington by last evening’s steamer. Mr M. .7. Moodabe, of Amalgamated Pictures, Ltd. (Auckland), is staying at the United Service Hotel. Messrs J. R. Cole (Wellington), C. F. Gordner and 11. E. Marler (Auckland) are guests at Warner’s Hotel. Messrs L. H. Labone, E. J. C. Wiffin (Wellington). 11. H. Adams, W. G. Sayegh and F. Restall (Auckland) are guests at the United Service Hotel. Messrs T. A. Sloane (Mossbank, N.S.W.) and N. 11. Gibson (Bondi, N.S.W.) are guests at the New City Hotel. The Rev Father A. Burger, S.M., rector of St Bede’s College, left last evening for Wellington to attend a conference of head teachers at private secondac schools. Mr Harcourt S. Cathcart, of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company at Labasa, Fiji, is visiting Christchurch and is staying with his sister, Mrs R. Bryan, Fendaltcn. Mr Cathcart will leave for Sydney cn Thursday.

Guests at the New City Hotel include Messrs T. A. Sloane (Mossvale, N.S.W.), N. 11. Gibson (Bondi, N.S.W.). B. Spencer and N. A. Duncan (Auckland), L. A. Williams and A. J. Craig (Wellington), and A. J. Jenkins and R. N. Patterson (Westport). Mr H. P. Donald, assistant agriculturist at Lincoln College, who has been awarded the Macmillan Brown Scholarship, which entitles him to a postgraduate course at Edinburgh University for one year, was granted leave of absence from the college by the Board of Governors at its meeting to-day. / A motion of sympathy with Lady Wigram in the loss of her husband, who was deputy-chairman of the Christchurch Tramway Board in 1903 and 1904, w’as passed by the board at its meeting yesterday afternoon. The chairman (the Rev J. K. Archer) represented the board at the funeral of Sir Henry Wigram later in the afternoon. A motion of sympathy with Lady Wigram in the death of Sir Henry Wigram was carried at last evening’s meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association, members standing in silence. The president (the Rev F. T. Read) said that Lady Wigram was connected with the activities of the R.S.A. through her work for the Red Cross. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Sir Henry Wigram was passed by the executive of the Christchurch Beautifying Association last night. The chairman (Mr R. B. Owen) referred to Sir Henry’s work in the consolidation of the city by the wiping out of minor boroughs, and his keenness for beautifying the Cathedral environs. His great work in the interests of aviation might prove of incalculable benefit to New Zealand in defence.
