Anzac Day.
Dear Sir,—Now that the new executive of the R.S.A. has been elected I would like as a volunteer soldier of the South African and last war to put before them the position of the casual worker. Since Anzac Day has been instituted it has cost me a day’s pay. I would like to suggest that those who uphold it and are paid for it should put themselves on an equitable basis and stand the loss I do. They might give it to the funds of the R.S.A. I do hope that readers of this won’t take me wrong. To those who were paid half pay as Government servants or from a benevolent employer, all right, but what of us who knew no employer and who like me are now standing, looking for work. Were those jokers better fighters? I think not. Finally I would like the R.S.A. to get a book published. The Government has the records of the actual time and records of all men. The public would be astounded.—l am, etc., ACTING-SERGEANT
