Rifle Club Holds Annual Dance.
Rain affected the attendance at the annual dance of the Lyttelton Miniature Rifles Cricket Club, held in the Club Hall on Saturday night, there being only about twenty-five couples present. Music was provided by the Ilerdman-Fisk Orchestra and novelty dances were held. Two presentations were made during the evening. The Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association’s third grade A shield was handed over to Mr S. Toomev, the captain of the winning team. On behalf of the members of the club, Mr Toomev made presentations to Mr and Mrs W. Whitford in recognition of their services to the club. Kia Toa Lodge. At the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Kia Toa Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., N.G. Sister M. Robertson presided. Nominations for office for the ensuing term were taken. It was reported that arrangements were well in hand for the annual dance, which will be held next month. It was decided to hold a social evening next lodge night, to which sisters could invite their mothers and a friend. After the business an enjoyable old-time dance was held.
