Levy of 3s 6d a Valve to be Made. COST OF PATENT RIGHTS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. May 7. A new agreement concerning the payment of royalties for patent rights has been made by representatives of the. retail radio trade and representatives of the patentees, who met in confer ence in Wellington last week. For some years the P. and T. Department has paid to the holders of patent rights three shillings out of each listener’s fee, to cover all claims for the use of patented apparatus. This airangement has been terminated and a new agreement will replace it. On and after June l no receiver will be imported, manufactured or sold in New Zealand by a radio dealer without the payment of 3s 6d per anode stream. This is roughly 3s 6d per valve A five-valve set will thus be subject to a royalty of I7s 6d from June l. All importers and manufacturers of receiving sets will be required to provide a fidelity bond of £l5O for the patent right holders. On June 1 all radio dealers will be required to declare their stocks, and all sets then unsold will be subject to the new charges
