CONDITION OF ROADS.
Inland Route to ICaikoura Still Blocked. Motor-cars can now get through to Blenheim by taking the seaward Kaikoura route and exercising care, according to a report given this morning by the Canterbury Automobile Association. The inland route is still blocked by slips and flooded creeks. Service cars left Christchurch this morning on their usual timetable, and it is expected that thev will have no difficulty in getting through. The creeks on the seaward route have now subsided and do not present much difficulty. No rain fell yesterday or to-day at Kaikoura, although the sky was overcast and threatening. A good deal of snow fell on the ranges at the back of the town on Saturday night. Today it was bitterly cold. Creeks in the district have subsided and traffic can get through without trouble. The road to Little River is blocked with big slips past Kaituna. and the road to Akaroa is impassable. The road between the Kiwi and Governor’s Bay was still impassable to-day. The West Coast road is clear and the Bcalev has not risen.
