TRADE WITH AMERICA.

Chamber of Commerce Receives Inquiry. The council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce met last evening, the president, Mr A. F. Wright, presiding. The Associated Industries of Massachusetts, United States of America, wrote inquiring as to the possibilities of developing trade with New Zealand and expressing the opini #i that the present was a good time to establish co-opera-tive relations with similar organisations in other countries. “ Various signs point to a revival of international trade,” stated the letter. “ Between certain countries there has already been substantial improvement. Stability of international exchange and the gradual removal of trade barriers promises to extend this movement during the next year or more. The upward trend of prices for raw materials will probably continue as manufacturing activities increase.” The secretary reported that he had replied stating that the chamber would be very pleased to assist, the Massachusetts organisation in any possible way in connection with trade inquiries, and while it could take no responsibility regarding firms introduced, the greatest possible care was always exercised to see that the inquirer was of satisfactory standing.
