The Shirley School Committee met on May l; present: Messrs S. J. Geary (chairman), Aitchison, Landrey, Mitchell, Tunnicliffe and Weir. Apologies were received from Mrs Hartley and Messrs Clothier and Crewe. Messrs Clothier and Mitchell were elected as the School Committee’s representatives on the Shirley Swimming Club's Committee. The committee decided to hold a progressive euchre tournament and dance in the school on Saturday, May 12, and in this connection it was decided to again meet on May 9 and confer with the Shirley School Women’s Social Committee, which reported having all arrangements well in hand. The reawakening of interest in the affairs of the Shirley School was commented upor. by several members.
